Recently innocent citizens have fallen prey to criminals posing as cops in marked cars. One similar incident has been unfolding at one of the local cop shop. A modified police wheels usually seen in the parking lot of Boipatong Police Station has raised eyebrows, and has left the community fuming and seeking answers.

Thato Matsoso, a concerned resident said, “We have noted in particular this cop car. As the community we are disturbed by the condition in which the car is in, it doesn’t resemble an official vehicle at all and we have never seen it being driven by black police officers.”

Warrant Officer Botha from Boipatong Police Station is said to have invested an estimated R10 000 pimping the state car with mag-wheels and also additional GPS, sensor, mats and seat cover.

“The station will have to provide answers as to where and how he got that money, could it be that the tax payer’s money is wasted at an expense of an individual or the nearby factory that he is often seen at, be his sponsor,” asked Matsoso.

Botha, who is a liquor officer didn’t conduct his usual raids at taverns over the weekend; as a result one person was reported dead.

Attempts to solicit comment from the Boipatong SAPS proved futile as they were held in a meeting at time of going to print.
